‘Pregnancy changes you as a person. It is this amazing journey that shifts your focus and pushes you to re-evaluate your life and priorities.’

This is one of the most requested posts. My pregnancy skincare routine. In this post, I will be discussing in detail about the skincare routine I followed. #lactatingmoms can follow this routine too.

Pregnancy, as exciting the journey is– It also brings with it a whole lot of hormonal concerns, that can change majority of women’s skin. In addition to that, pregnant women have to be extra cautious of the ingredients they put in their bodies because the wrong ingredients can negatively affect the developing baby. So, always do your research and check with your doctor before introducing a new product as well as existing products. .

Diving this series of posts into 3 parts
This part 1, I’m focusing on skincare. I have listed down a simple routine – both AM & PM. Also, few things that should be avoided.

My morning skincare routine was pretty simple. I used Juicy Chemistry Tamanu, Kakadu Plum and Frankincense Face Wash or Pure By Priyanka Rose Gold Face Wash or on days I wanted a Ubtan, I used my most favorite Shesha Naturals Tejaswini Facial Ubtan.

For toner AM, I used Pure Rose Water / Pure By Priyanka Green Tea Toner

I always made sure, I pat a Facial serum before putting a moisturiser on my face. During my pregnancy days, I felt my skin needed that extra boost of hydration. Pure By Priyanka Glow serum or Murad Vitamin C serum was my go-to serum. Certain days where I didn’t felt like applying any skincare products. Post cleansing and toning I just took a pump of Nellie Tier Face Serum. It’s calming botanical ingredients aroma is so relaxing I tell you. It gives you that instant energy and fresh feeling on tiring mornings too.

For my under eyes — AM as well as PM, I always reached out to Dr Sheth’s Quinoa & Dates Eye Cream. My undereye area appeared lighter, radiant and dark circles appeared lesser.

I used Truederma SPF 50 sunscreen gel / Dr Sheth’s Sunscreen and I loved both.

My day creams were light gel ones or normal ones. Neemli, Dr Sheth’s, Nellie Tier are the ones I enjoyed the most. Multitasking Miracle Cream by Dr Sheth’s is perfect for anyone who wouldn’t want to layer skincare products and a elaborate skincare routine. It’s perfect for all skin types including acne-prone and sensitive skin. This helps combat a number of issues faced by Indian skin including pigmentation, acne and aging Doic Acid (derived from Sunflower Seeds) fights melanin synthesis to remove daily tans and damage Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid work to repair and hydrate the skin.

Night skincare routine started by taking off my makeup. I used cleansing balms from Earth Rhythm or Trilogy or The Body Shop Chamomile one for taking off my makeup. Aldi, made sure I double cleansed using a gel cleanser like Juicy Chemistry Kakadu one or Trilogy balancing facial cleanser.

Pixi Beauty glow tonic was my saviour I tell you. This product helps keep acne at bay. A you need to do is–soak cotton pads in the solution and gently sweep across the skin after cleansing, avoiding the eye area. If you want you can pour it into the palm of your hands and pat it across the face avoiding eye area. That way you can minimize usage of cotton pads.

This glycolic acid based toner helped brighten my dull face, reduce spots and acne scars. Made my skin soft, no blackheads etc.

Next is my serum combination for PM routine.

The Ordinary Vit C (Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%)( every night before serum after toning )
Buffet” + Copper Peptides 1% ( night serum)
Lactic Acid 5% + HA ( weekly twice)
Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 ( after serums AM PM on days I feel skin is dry and need extra nourishment
( all these products are pregnancy and nursing safe ) lactic acid peel is what helped me keep my face free from blemishes etc. Lactic acid peel maximum 3 times a day.

Night creams —Murad gel/ Moisturiser ; I absolutely enjoyed using them as they are light weight, yet provided enough hydration. For elaborate night skin pamperings, I always reached out to Nellie Tier night cream/ YBP plant remedy. For spots- I dabbed Trilogy Rosehip oil or Life Flo Rosehip oil to affected areas as a last step in my routine.

I used a natural lipbalm from fiducia botanicals that I totally enjoyed.

Key is any product you introduce in your skincare, be well aware of the ingredients. Research before trying anything. Use my post as a guideline and substitute with other brand products whereever required. You don’t need exact same products. But, this is what I followed and what worked for me. I don’t have any acne, melasma or pigmentation issues on my face at the moment. My twin babies are 20 months old.
