Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer | Review

Posted on September 8, 2015September 8, 2015 by renjianooj

I must admit that I am a concealer junkie. Have the worst hereditary dark under eye circles. No skincare product in this entire planet can give me a rescue from this stubborn dark circles. Now, another possible way is to hide them using concealers. That’s how I started my journey of concealers – From MAC-Benefit-Kryolan-Dermablend – the list goes on. Dermablend, Kyolan etc really help in banishing those dark shadows. They are more of a heavy makeup and so, I don’t prefer to use those products unless its a function/party. Else, my way to concealer is MAC. I love experimenting and I have never used any drugstore concealers. This one was sent by Collection Cosmetics (previously known as Collection 2000) for review. I decided to give this a try and in this post, I am sharing my experiences using this

Collection Cosmetics is a UK-based drugstore brand. They have their products available here in NZ as well. The Collection Lasting Perfection concealer has been hailed as a dupe for the famous NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

I got two shades – Fair & Cool Medium

What I really like about this concealer is that it is very soft and creamy. I find some concealer formulas that tend to be too thick which makes it hard to blend or some formulas that are quick drying and often tend to sit in the fine lines around my eyes.

The packaging of this one is really sleek and simple, the doe foot applicator makes the application a lot easier. One just need to dab a few dots on the under eye area and then blend out with a brush or hand.. “The 16 hr wear” claim is not at all true in my opinion- This one last upto 5 hours or so.

So, does it really live up to the hype? For me,I would say kind of – Looking at the price- it does win as a good drugstore concealer. The shade- Fair is like a highlighter shade for me. I initially dab my MAC orange corrector and on top of it I apply the concealer in shade cool medium. It really hides the dark shadows when applied on top of a corrector. Then, I go with my regular foundation routine and as a final step- I apply the lightest shade to the high points of my face. This way- it works really well, photographs well etc. If I get a chance I will try that and give you a comparison post- For most warmer skin tones – I think medium would be a right choice. This one “cool medium” if applied without a corrector on my under eye area- looks ashy when blended. With a corrector- it fades the dark shadows well.

Now, the million dollar question – How good is the formula- Did you like it -the formula stays on my eye area upto 4-5 hours when set using a powder, it did crease a little bit and sat on the fine lines . But, overall, it looked good.

I would completely disagree if everyone claims this as a dupe of NARS. the formula would be similar. But, NARS one lasts for much longer than this. I think the concealer longevity should be checked on people with stubborn dark circles like mine. A concealer can only be excellent, if it covers stubborn dark shadows like how I have, without settling to fine lines, creasing, flaking etc….If you are looking for a highlighter for your under eyes – get the “Fair” – its good to give that overall brightened under eye area. For stubborn dark circles – I don’t think this would be an ideal product. Don’t get this unless you like experimenting with different products.

Have you tried this concealer? What are your thoughts about it ? What’s your HG concealer ?

** Product send by brand PR. However, my opinion is honest and unbiased as always

Love the honest review Renji! You are the concealer queen so I trust your review 100%. Also I wonder why Collection didn’t send you warm medium shade. They do make it!

I completely agree! The Collection concealer is good but it’s definitely not as amazing as the Nars one. In saying that, for a ‘drugstore’ concealer Lasting Perfection is great for concealing anything on the face-although I have never used it on dark circles.
