MAC Guo Pei Collection for Fall 2015

All these years I have been such a floral fan. I love floral prints on everything. If you follow me on my Facebook page- You might have thought why this girl always wear everything floral. Yes, I am a total floral addict – starting from my apparel, bags, peeptoes, book covers, bed spread – Everything has floral in them.

When I saw this collection initially in Temptalia- It was in my dreams. I dreamed of owning them and I feel really really lucky to have sent the collection to me for review. Yes I am talking about MAC Guo Pei Collection.

Inspired by her “garden of the soul,” China’s most esteemed haute couturier brings her legendary eleganceto an inspired collection of hues, merging vibrant jewel tones with lush neutrals, punctuated by deep graphite.

Really thankful to MAC NZ for giving me these wonderful products. I am going to review each of the product that I got from this MAC Guo Pei Collection.

Now, coming on to what all I received….I am really lucky to get some of the products from Guo Pei Collection a few days before my birthday..Yes, it’s my birthday today. 

I received eyeshadow quad – Morning Light ; Lipsticks – Ethereal Orchid & Zenith; Powder Blush – Red Water Lily & cremesheen glass – Bright Pink Bouquet. 

Look how adorable is that metal case with floral prints. I really like how exciting this collection is. I have never seen any MAC collection as beautiful as this. According to MAC , this collection is brand’s “luxe” collection of the year, so pricing is much higher compared to the usual limited edition collections.

Morning Light / Eye Shadow x 4 – SRP $184.00

Earthy Scent – MAC describes ‘earthy scent’ as a blackened brown with matte finish – A really good matte brown shade. Highly pigmented. All of the swatches are single swipes. Very easy to blend and work with and doesn’t fade etc. Staying power is really really good. It stayed upto 7 hours after which it started fading.

Amber Lights – MAC describes ‘amber light’ as a peachy brown with shimmer and frost finish. Amber lights is part of the permenant collection.  A nice copper color which has a metallic sheen to it.  Texture is very soft, easy to apply and easily blendable as well.  I got about 7 hours wear time.

Walking Dawn – MAC  describes ‘walking dawn’ as a light / medium gold with veluxe pearl finish. I would say this is more of a light yellow with golden. A very pretty shade for any skintones. This one also is super easy to work with.

Sweet Vapours – MAC describes ‘ sweet vapours’ as a  soft beige w/pink duochrome with a peal lustre finish. This works good as a inner corner highlight for me. But if you are more cool toned, This will look nice on your lids.

My overall opinion about the Quad – Design/ packaging wise – super excellent. Comes in a gorgeous gold quad with floral prints. There is a mirror on the quad making it easy for travel touchups. Looks and feels luxurious. not like some cheap plastic packaging. the gold metal case is sure eye catching. The shades are easily dupable though. Unless you really want to add the collector’s item product to your vanity- you might not want to get this. My favorite shade from the quad is ‘Amber Lights’ & next favorite is ‘Walking Down’. Enjoy the swatches and eye looks!

Powder Blush: Red Water Lily – SRP $80.00

Red Water Lily – MAC describes this powder blush as a “light coral pink.” This is a nice warmer pink which is highly pigmented. Look at the floral print on the shadow. Doesn’t it look gorgeous! Texture is finely-milled, smooth and easily blendable. Take a look at the swatches!

Lipsticks – Ethereal Orchid & Zenith – SRP $75.00

How pretty that bullet is. golden and florals. Sure reminds me of spring.

Ethereal Orchid is described by MAC as a mid-tone dirty coral with lustre finish. Lustre finishes are a lot sheer and of thin consistency. I am never a fan of corals. But this one really suited my skintone. With its semi-sheer coverage, and 2-3 swipes on my pigmented lips gave a really nice pop of color. Sadly the staying power is not that great as it’s a lustre finish.

Zenith is described by MAC as a  light nude with lustre finish. Initially when I saw the shade- I thought it wouldn’t suit me. But with full makeup on, this would be the perfect nude lip shade. Honestly , I am not a fan of lustre finishes because of its poor staying power. Both these lipsticks gave me a wear time of 3 – 3.5 hours.  Have a look at the swatches

Cremesheen Glass – Bright Pink Bouquet – SRP $71.00

MAC describes ‘bright pink bouquet’ as a nude coral shade. It’s a very pretty shade that easily glides on lips. No stickiness or tackiness while the shade is on. Covers pigmented lips in 1-2 swipes. I got a wear time of upto 3 hours.

Overall, a collector’s item from MAC with such pretty, jaw-dropping packaging. I think the quads and blush are awesome. I just wish they were not so expensive. This collection launches in NZ on October 5^th and is exclusive to Smith & Caughey’s Queen Street. International : launching September 24 to the MAC website and October 1 through November 1 to select MAC counters and stores
