Savar Ultra Cleansing Shampoo & Ultra Nourishing Conditioner | Review

Posted on October 5, 2015November 3, 2015 by renjianooj

In today’s post – I thought of reviewing a haircare product. Since 2-3 years I have completely stopped using haircare products that has the ingredient- Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) and its close relative Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS).

Reason why I stopped products with SLES/SLS – Both, sodium laureth sulfate and its cousin are also very dangerous, highly irritating chemicals. Far from giving “healthy shining hair” and “beautiful skin”, soaps and shampoos containing sodium laureth sulfate can lead to direct damage to the hair follicle, skin damage, permanent eye damage in children and even liver toxicity.

I was lucky enough to be able to try Savar Skincare’s plant based Ultra Cleansing Shampoo & Ultra Nourishing Conditioner. I have had about 8 washes using this shampoo & conditioner and I thought this is the best time to review them.

My experience using the Savar Shampoo & Conditioner

Now, before we start about experience using it- Let me tell a little about my hair : I have long thick black hair. Never color treated. My main hair concerns are scalp itchiness- I have oily scalp & very minor split ends.

First of all, about the packaging- As it comes in a 500 ml bottle- its very huge and one bottle lasts for a long time. If you check the active ingredients- Cucumber, ginger, manuka honey, avocado – All of these are known for its refreshing and healing properties and so, I was more excited to try the shampoo. It smells really refreshing.

How I used the products – I take about a pump and half in my hand and apply to wet hair, gently massaging into the hair and scalp and rinse. I didn’t feel my hair to be super smooth while applying this or after washing my hair using this. it lathers nicely leaving that refreshing aroma. It really helped in removing the dirt from my scalp. My scalp itchiness was no longer there. However- without the conditioner, my hair felt really dry. Hair remained tangle free. I didn’t even had to comb my hair after hair wash. Once hair was completely dry- It felt frizz free and easily manageable. Now, when I washed my hair using a conditioner post shampoo – Hair felt really smooth, soft and shiny. I have heard of some people washing their hair with a conditioner before using a shampoo- I tried that method as well. Results were good.

Overall, my xperience using the shampoo+conditioner combination was great- hair was easily manageable and scalp felt really clean and no itchiness was there. No tangled strak, just lovely smooth shinier hair. Not needing to comb post wash is awesome. no hair breakage too. The conditioner has the goodness of cucumber, ginger, avocado and Manuka honey. Using the shampoo alone didn’t work well on my hair– hair felt dry post washing. But the shampoo+conditioner combo and conditioner alone worked great on my hair! Another important fact about this is – it doesn’t weigh down your hair. Using the duo made the hair really bouncy too. If you are looking for a simple shampoo and conditioner with no chemicals – then this is for you!

** Product send by brand. However, my review is honest and unbiased as always.

I love products with Manuka honey. They are so nourishing. I even love Manuka honey candy – very sweet but I love the taste.
