My absolute love for matte finish lipsticks , was very well catered by MAC on launching a full line of matte lipstick consisting of 8 colours,7 being absolutely new and 1 of them named HEROINE is a re promote from MAC’s regular line. Being the regular self I picked up the brightest pink shade from this collection named LAVIE EN ROUGE. I just can’t resist to look up the meaning of this phrase. It means “The life in red.” well in my case majority of times , the name and packaging of a product influences my purchase a lot , and this time MAC just killed it with such a beautiful name.
What MAC says about it:
The Matte Lip is here to stay. Create a standout look with the fashion-forward new shades of our iconic matte lipstick. Vibrant hues like fuchsia Velvet Violet and La Vie En Rouge are a bold contrast to the rich burgundy of Fashion Revival and nude of Styled in Sepia. For the best in colour intensity, Pro Long wear Lip Pencils in super-saturated shades to make a modern statement.
Packaging: This lipstick comes in the regular black mac packaging , even though it’s a collection but the packaging is regular, and this is not limited edition .
Shade: Mac La Vie En Rouge is very different and a delightful shade to brighten up your face, most especially if you are a woman of colour, It is a warm coral fuchsia.
Texture: As the name suggest its matte finish , but very creamy ,it doesn’t tug or pull on the lips, neither does it dry out lips.
Pigmentation: Awesome, opaque in one swipe. So one tube anyway would last whole life.
My overall thoughts:
On my lips, it appears as a bright warm coral fuchsia with a semi-matte finish. It went on for 5 to 6 hours on my lips; I do not see any leftover lipstick stain. Despite being matte, it is non- drying, slightly hydrating formula. It is really very pigmented that a single layer does the trick even if you have pigmented lips. It never turns patchy nor drying throughout its wear time, even though that my lips are dried out this winter time, but it gives a comfortable wear. It is such a pretty shade that instantly perks up the complexion . It is very lightweight and also very comfortable to put on. Once again, MAC did not disappoint on the formula and the overall performance of this lipstick.
-A really unique and beautiful pink coral shade.
-The shade is not easily dupable, so you will not really see 10 people around you wearing the same colour.
-Even though it looks really bright in the tube, on the lips it is kind of muted down, so people not very comfortable with bright can lay their hands on this.
-My favorite matte finish.
-Yummy signature vanilla fragrance from mac.
-This line is permanent, so availability should not be an issue.
-Not a dry matte formula, rather It’s creamy and comfortable to wear.
In addition, I really love the name of this lipstick.. This particular matte collection caters to every one as it has nudes and bright both as a part of the collection.
The only con I found is very dark skin beauties might find it a little difficult to pull of with the shade.
Overall: I highly recommend to everyone in getting this lipstick. It is a shade that MAC hasn’t launched or re promoted before, nor do I find this easily dupable. This shade is perfect for Spring and Summer, but I being the pinkster, that I am would, wear this shade for Fall and Winter too.
