L’Oreal Colour Riche Monos Eye Shadows come in small black compact with clear window that display the shade name. They weigh 0.12 oz each. I find it very hard to describe the texture of the eyeshadows. Totally agree with L’Oreal’s claim that they are velvety soft. The touch and feel of the eye shadow is almost like a cream and it applies like a powder. The only downside with the packaging is that these shadows are pressed into their plastic compacts (rather than metal pans). So you can’t depot it to a Z-palette. Quite difficult to carry these shades around. The shades can shatter easily if not handled with care. I dropped few shades and it shattered and I had to fix it using a rubbing alcohol.

Coming onto swatches. I really love the shades and I am drawn towards the darker shades than the lighter ones.LorealColourRicheMonosEyeShadows_025

I found 200 Paris beach (matte) and 201 Little beige dress (matte) a little difficult to blend. But as I use them mostly as highlighting shades, It’s ok. From this set – Sunset Seine (shimmer), Cafe Au Lait (matte) and Quartz Fume (shimmer) are my favorites.LorealColourRicheMonosEyeShadows_038

Shades (L-R) : 210 Argentic, 211 Grand Bleu, 212 – Green Promenade, 213 Teal Couture, 214 Meet Me in Paris

The shade 210 Argentic (metallic shimmer) looks really good when applied in combination with  211 Grand Bleu (metallic). I was very excited initially for this dark blue shade. Sadly, I had to layer it few times to get the desired pigmentation. Once applied on top of primer, it’s great. I love the 212 – Green Promenade (metallic shimmer) a lot from this set. it looks very pretty even as a overall lid color. 214 Meet Me in Paris (matte) is a nice matte shade that can be used to create smokey eyes with other matte combinations from this range. The shade 213 Teal Couture (metallic) is great too.

I love the shade range- shimmer, matte, metallic. These eyeshadows are nicely pigmented and the payoff is excellent except for few lighter colors.  I found that my finger was the best way for applying and blending. You can also opt to use a brush. But I like to use my fingers first and then once I get the right intensity I like to sweep of the harsh edges using a blending brush and a transition shade.

LorealColourRicheMonosEyeShadows_014

The formula of these, gel infused eyeshadow almost feels wet to the touch but glides easily and quickly sets. I use my fingers to apply this. Once applied they don’t budge or crease and perform well with or without a primer. I get about 7-8 hours of wear time. I have normal eyelids. The pigmentation is great except for few colors that are lighter. Al the swatches ( with and without flash) are without a primer so that you can see the true color.

The L’Oreal Color Riche Eye Shadows are available in 15 shades and are ~$5.99 each at ULTA, $4.99 at Target
