If you are regular reader of my blog, You’d probably know by now that MAC limited edition collection and new releases are my weakness! And I literally never leave any chance to stalk the site and collect my favorites before they even get officially launched on stores. Love being MAC obsessed.. When I first saw the collection preview on trendmood instagram, I knew I had to get it. In this post, I will be sharing my thoughts on all new MAC X Padmalakshmi Collection, a stunning masterpiece collection with beautiful packaging that suits every skintone.
MAC x Padma Lakshmi Collection is one of the latest collaboration between the brand and the most beautiful, Padma Lakshmi. This limited edition collection stands out. The wonderful Egyptian vibe gold packaging is stunning! I picked few items from this collection when it got launched in the US. I would say – There’s definitely a little something for every skin tone!
Beauty, brains, glamour and the fierceness to handle the world’s spiciest foods – Padma Lakshmi’s talents have taken her from actress to cookbook author extraordinaire, top model to host of Top Chef…and now, to designer of a M·A·C capsule collection! Lakshmi introduces curated eye shadow palettes and individual colour for eyes, lips and cheeks, designed to take you from day to deep night – and last through all the culinary adventures in between.
Look at the gold packaging! Isn’t it stunning ? It was an impulse purchase. There’s no wonder these days I am picking every new collection from MAC just by seeing its amazing packaging!
Lipsticks are priced at $18.50 each and I picked 4 shades – Nude Fudge, Apricot Gold, Mittai Pink & Blue Blood
Except the shade – Apricot Gold which has an amplified finish ; rest all I picked is of matte finish. Here are more pictures of the packaging and the beautiful swatches taken in natural day light with and without flash.
MAC Padma Lakshmi collection Lipsticks – Apricot Gold, Nude Fudge, Mittai Pink, Blue Blood – $18.50 each
MAC LIPSTICK / PADMA – Apricot Gold
Apricot Gold – Apricot Gold is a beautiful peach brown shade. I initially thought this shade would wash me out. But, it looks good on my complexion. It’s perfect for a summer day out with friends. It has a amplified – creamy finish that glides super easily. Doesn’t dry out lips. Quite moisturizing too. Excellent color pay-off in single swipe itself. As it’s a creamy finish it’s not transfer proof. But, if blotted properly the shade lasts upto 4-5 hours. The formula as it’s amplified – It does cling on to the dry areas of the lips and accentuates the fine lines of lips. So, exfoliating lips is must. if you have cracked lips, I would suggest you not use this formula.
MAC LIPSTICK / PADMA – Mittai Pink
Mittai Pink – Mittai Pink is one of my favorite color. A bright raspberry pink shade with a semi – matte finish. Highly pigmented color and all you need is single swipe! Formula feels heavy on lips but, applies beautifully. Feels creamy while swatching, but heavy on lips while applying. Delivers the most beautiful pink that looks gorgeous on every skintone. I wore this shade for over 6.5 hours and it left a beautiful stain on my lips. The formula is not very drying on lips. Feels comfortable on lips and I would not say it’s transferproof. Though it’s of matte finish. It won’t stick to the lips and remain in a dry texture. It does feel creamy and so it transfers a little bit. Nothing major like other finishes. But, it’s a wearable shade. Highly recommend this color.
MAC LIPSTICK / PADMA – Blue Blood
Blue Blood – A beautiful red color with blue undertones. Love the color pay-off. Formula felt smooth and velvety and I wore it for about 6-7 hours on my lips. Formula was comfortable on lips. One swipe is enough and the formula was not drying on lips as well. But, again its not transfer proof. It does transfers little bit. Exfoliating lips is a must before applying any of the formulas other than amplified finish.
MAC LIPSTICK / PADMA – Nude Fudge
Nude Fudge – My most favorite shade from this range. This beautiful rose brown shade is pretty! The shade is universally flattering and it has a semi matte finish. Love the color.
Moving onto swatches.
MAC Eye Shadow X 4 – 70’s Sunset – $33.00
Stunning, is the word right ?
Packaging – MAC Eye Shadow X 4 – 70’s Sunset – $33.00 is a palette of 4 Eye Shadows in a cool beige, frosty light green, sparkly copper and pearlescent plum shade. Can be used wet or dry. Specially designed in gilded luxe decorative packaging.
- Sand & Clay: Midtone cool beige (Matte)
- Cardamom: Cool light green w/ white frost (Veluxe Pearl)
- Mumtaz: Copper w/ gold sparkle (Veluxe Pearl)
- All’s Rosy: Midtone plum with gold pearl (Matte)
I really love the beautiful colors. They don’t have any fallouts. The shades can be well coordinated together. The formula for each shade in the quad is creamy, applies smooth without fallouts, and is pigmented too.
I wouldn’t say it’s super pigmented. But, can be layered and make it work. 2 matte shades and 2 veluxe pearl shades. Here are the swatches.
Overall, MAC x Padma Lakshmi is a beautiful collection with a great packaging. The gold details add beauty to the packaging. My favorite lipsticks are ‘ Nude Fudge’ , ‘Mittai Pink’ ; If you are a makeup collector, You’d definitely wanna check this collection out.
